Words are carriers of intentions.

Words grant authority.

Words grant permission.

Words convey thoughts.

Words can declare or decree.

Words are powerful.

Words can establish.

Words can build or tear down.

Words carry life or death.

Words are the trucks that carry whatever you can ask, think or imagine.

Jesus stated that we will give account for every idle word in the day of judgement. Proverbs states that life and death or in the power of the tongue.

Apostle James wrote that the tongue can kindle a fire. He went on to say that the tongue works like a bit in a horse’s mouth and like the rudder on a ship. The horse uses it’s strong body to carry or pul, but it is controlled by a bit in it’s mouth. The boat is propelled by a power source like an engine or the wind, but it is steered by a rudder.

Our words make us the number one prophet in our own life.

The most reckless thing a Christian can do is to not use self control over the words which they speak. If we agree with the devil with our words, we will receive the devil’s will in our life. The most Christian thing you can do is to only say what God’s word authorizes you to say. You can’t even get saved unless you believe and confess that Jesus is LORD.

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:8–10, NKJV)

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:7–11, NKJV)

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” (Galatians 5:16–18, NKJV) “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” (Galatians 5:22–26, NKJV)

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:7–10, NKJV)

We sow to the spirit with our words and our deeds. Love in words and deeds. Speak the truth in love and grow up into Christ in all things. Joy is expressed in our actions and in what we say. Peace and patience are often expressed by what we don’t say. Kindness and goodness show up in words, actions and facial expressions. Gentleness and self control give us victory over hateful words and actions.
