“He Is a Prophet”

Please Read John 9:13–17 (NKJV)

Reflection

The man who had been born blind now had eyes that could see for the first time in his life. Instead of celebrating with him, the people brought him to the Pharisees for questioning.

They wanted to know how he had received his sight. The man gave a simple, honest testimony:

“He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”

The Pharisees immediately focused on the fact that Jesus had done this on the Sabbath. Some said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.” Others were troubled and asked, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?”

In the middle of their debate, the healed man spoke up with quiet boldness:

“He is a prophet.”

This was his first public testimony. He didn’t know everything about Jesus yet. He hadn’t seen Him clearly. He didn’t fully understand who Jesus was. But what he did know, he spoke honestly and courageously — even though it was risky.

He was standing before the most powerful religious leaders of his day, and he refused to deny what Jesus had done for him.

In the Kingdom life, honest testimony in the face of religious pressure is a mark of true discipleship. We don’t have to know everything before we speak. We simply tell what we do know: “I was blind, but now I see.” “Jesus touched me.” “He told me to go and wash, and I obeyed.”

The man’s simple testimony created tension. It forced the religious leaders to confront the undeniable power of God at work. Honest testimony always does that. It doesn’t argue theology first — it simply declares what Jesus has done.

Application

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to show you any place where you have been hesitant to give honest testimony because of fear of religious pressure, criticism, or rejection. Renew your mind with this truth: Honest testimony about what Jesus has done is powerful, even when it’s simple. Think of one thing Jesus has done in your life — a healing, a deliverance, an answer to prayer, or a moment of obedience that brought breakthrough. Decide today to share that testimony with at least one person. Speak it clearly and humbly. Your honest words can plant seeds of faith in someone else and bring glory to Jesus.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the courage of the man born blind who simply told the truth: “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.” Thank You that honest testimony has power even when we don’t know everything. Forgive us when we have stayed silent because of fear of what others might think or say. Renew our minds today to value truth-telling more than approval. Give us boldness to speak what we do know about Jesus — what He has done for us and how He has changed us. May our simple, honest testimony bring glory to Your Son and draw others to Him. In Jesus’ name, giving thanks for the living Word of the Lord. Amen.
