Seeking Jesus First - Aug. 30, 2023

What does it mean to Seek Jesus First?

It doesn’t just mean that you spend the first part of your day praying or reading The Word.

The sons of God are led by The Spirit of God.

We are in relationship with God, Our Heavenly Father.

We are in relationship with The LORD Jesus Christ, The Son of God, The firstborn among many brethren.

We have His Holy Spirit with us and in us. So we are in very close relationship (spiritually and physically) with Holy Spirit. He made our bodies His holy temple.

This powerful relationship gives us access to secrets, and  even to future events. When we face any situation, we have access to God’s POV (point of view). We have access to God’s wisdom, knowledge and understanding. We have access to the loving truth that dwells in God. The fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness and self control are produced through the communion of Holy Spirit and our spirit.

Seeking Jesus First can be as simple as making eye contact with Jesus. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” (Psalm 32:8, NKJV)

Now, all of our real contact with The Father and with Jesus comes through Holy Spirit manifesting them to us. That is the way I understand it right now. There seem to be exceptions so I am not making a hard and fast statement. But the point is that Holy Spirit reveals Jesus and The Father to us.

God, by His Spirit, will instruct and teach us in the way we should go and guide us by His eyes. This verse shows us that He is walking with us.

  • He will instruct us in the way. As we walk, He walks with us and points the way.
  • As we walk together, we listen to and watch Him.
  • As we walk, He teaches us the manner in which we are to walk.
  • He shows us how fast or slow to walk.
  • We wait when He waits. We go when He goes.
  • We say what He says. We do what He does.
  • As we walk together, he teaches us His ways.
  • As we walk together, He corrects our posture (in a manner of speaking).
  • We start understanding His facial expressions.
  • His eyes tell us where to go and when.
  • We understand the wind blowing around us and how to pick out the leading of The Spirit.
  • We can easily pick out His voice from the noise around us.
  • We understand that love is the motivating force behind everything that He does, and it becomes our motivating force.
  • We gain trust in Him with every step we take with Him.

This is how amazing the relationship becomes the more we seek Him first. Seeking Jesus First is looking unto Jesus the author and the finisher of your faith. “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3:17–18, NKJV)

Seeking Jesus First is walking with Jesus.

Seeking Jesus First is setting my focus on Jesus.

Seeking Jesus First is always being aware of His presence and following His lead.

Seeking Jesus First is coming to know God as we are known by God.

The truth is, Holy Spirit makes it possible for anyone and everyone who believes and seeks His face. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6, NKJV) “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13, NKJV) ““So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Luke 11:9, NKJV)
