Daily Worship, Spirit and Word - June 12, 2024
If Christ Jesus has accomplished it, then it is part of our inheritance. In order to receive an inheritance, it must be claimed. In order to benefit from an inheritance, it must be claimed and used.
What has Christ Jesus already accomplished? What has He included in our inheritance that can be claimed and used during our earthly existence?
On June 7 and 11, 2024, we studied that we have dominion over sin and not the other way around. On June 10, we looked into the truth that God’s son, Christ Jesus, was manifest on earth to destroy the works of the devil.
Today, let’s see if Christ Jesus gave the disciples authority over the devil.
Jesus sent 70 of his disciples out to all of the cities of Judea and told them, “Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say,” (Luke 10:8–10, NKJV)
Jesus did this before the baptized in The Holy Spirit, before the resurrection, and before the death on the cross. Christ Jesus already had the authority to do these things and to share that authority with His disciples - not just the twelve but seventy disciples.
When they returned from their evangelical outreach, Jesus told them, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19, NKJV)
Jesus gave 70 disciples all of this authority over the devil. (To Be Continued)
