Trusting in money hinders faith in God.
“Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!” And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”” (Mark 10:23–25, NKJV)
A person who wants to be rich in the world’s riches and puts their faith in money will find it difficult to enter into the kingdom of God. “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24, NKJV)
God is the one who gives us His kingdom. Whoever comes to God must put their faith in Him. ““You shall have no other gods before Me.” (Exodus 20:3, NKJV) God loved us enough to provide us a door out of bondage to the fear of man and to the service of idols. Do you believe that God loves you? Your faith in His love for you opens your heart to trust in only Him.
If I trust in money, I stop praying to God. If I trust in God, I talk to Him and seek His leading whether or not I have money. Let’s say this another day. When you have a choice, do you pray about it or do you ask yourself if you can afford to answer the need yourself. When you have a need, do you pray for direction, or do you reach for your credit card? When you feel led to give, does fear of lack keep you from following the leading of The Spirit? “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21, NKJV)
Seek Jesus First, even if you can afford to do something, ask for the leading of The Spirit and keep His Word. Trust in the LORD with all of your heart and lean not to your own understanding. Ask God how He wants to provide or lead in your situation. Walk by faith and not by sight because the sons of God are led by His Spirit.
