What is a testimony? A testimony is a first hand account of a personally experienced encounter. When we hear what happened to you when you sought after God during a time of need, we are inspired to seek God during our times of need. Your testimony is an invitation to me to seek God for myself.
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6, NKJV)
Your testimony inspires me to believe God will help me. So, I start seeking God for myself.
You may be important enough in my life for me to simply believe God based upon your testimony. However, Our Heavenly Father desires for us each to have our own testimony.
This is what e mean when we say we have a relationship with God. The “I AM” is my “I AM”. He is, “Our Father”, but He is also, “My Father”, and He desires a personal relationship with each of us.
It is true that, “We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” But if I say, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.”, I am actually personally identifying with The “I AM”. I want my relationship with Our Heavenly Father to be personal. I want to know His voice and be face to face with Him (experiencing His presence in my life). And I want my own testimony that inspires others to seek their own relationship with God.
Don't you?
